《狂人日记》根据鲁迅同名小说改编的舞台剧《狂人日记》 该剧编剧庄稼昀执教于美国北卡罗莱纳教堂山大学(University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill)戏剧系，文学顾问薛毅执教于上海师范大学中文系，是资深的鲁迅研究专家，舞美设计谭泽恩执教于中国传媒大学，灯光设计韩江(微博)系北京当代芭蕾舞团执行总监，造型设计王茂为自由艺术家并执教于北京现代音乐学院。他们全部零稿酬创作，只为了对戏剧精神的探索，和对鲁迅的致敬。
The tale of Tou O based on the northern variety dramatist Kwan Hanqing’s play : Injustice to Tou O. The new version takes place at Shang Yan, a hell-like city, full ofrestless souls. The story focuses on the protagonist Tou O who keeps waiting for the reunion with her father and this expectation has lasted for thirteen years. With the plot engages, Tou O is charged by a false guilt to a murder crime and is named as a suspect. At this moment, the judge for the case, sent to the city is Tou Tienchang, the father of Tou O. Tou O hopes father to save her, however the result comes as father let her to make confession as guilty. In the desperation, Tou O makes three horrible curses: Blood will fly to the high silk flag; There is going to snow in June; and Three-years drought in Shan Yan. Three oaths shakes a fairy, who comes down embodied by a man, asks Tou O to withdraw the oaths, then she can go on living…here comes the choice between living and death, also, shame and dignity.

‘Snow in Midsummer’ is a well known story in China. The moment when Tou O makes three horrible oaths to the god impulses us tocreate a knew version of the old classical drama. We see a young female who living at an inferno time and space, waiting hopefully to her father coming back to save her, keeps looking for the meaning of life but these actions seemsalways postponed. This is a cruel world of desperate people, they do harm to each other. And I feel the whole situation is really absurd because there is no respond to our requests. When it comes Tou O and the holy, in the form of a man, face to face , she chooses not to be forgiven and to be saved, but death. Nietzsche once said through the denial of the existential of god, we can actually live and save this world; and Albert Camus makes me think, if self-destructive is the only serious problem of philosophy. Humankind is always looking towards something inevitable or, somethingmeaningful even if it ends and becomes nothingness. So, I think it might be us, a huge body of people waiting to be executed and this gives us the clear respond of living and choice.
Tou O is a serious of question beyond the sadness and torment. It requests what is the meaning of faith, what should we do when we start losing it? How to confront the destiny and make a right choice or what actually is right and what is wrong, what is justice, what is guilty? Ding Yiteng, the shining artist of his generation represents us an age lack of belief and truth, the answer we are looking for might only exists in the action of building our own monument. And the query during it will boost our society and people, make them think. That is a way against the dying of light.
